Longside Project
This interior design project involved redesigning a living room for a house in Longside, Aberdeenshire. The main requirement of the brief was to modernise the space and to ensure that the new design worked cohesively with the existing traditional brick fireplace. The room had lots of character with a sloped wooden ceiling, fireplace and large windows.
We used a subtle floral wallpaper on the fireplace wall to create a feature. On the other walls we have used a warm neutral paint colour. We then paired this together with a neutral sofa and light wood furniture. There's lots of natural light within the room so we wanted to keep the room light to reflect this.
For the soft furnishings, we paired the wallpaper with a light neutral sofa and added tonal cushions. To create a slight contrast in the tones and to add texture, we added in natural woods in the furniture.
As the room has no ceiling lights, we have added in large feature wall lights on the fireplace wall. We have also added a gallery to the wall behind the sofa to add interest and to create another focal point.
