Autumn Colour In The Garden

With the autumn season just around the corner, the colour in our gardens is starting to change. Bright colours of summer begin to fade and the warmer tones of autumn start to appear. This season is the perfect time for berries, rich reds and amber hues to stand out in the garden. Many plants can be used in containers, borders, pots and hanging baskets in the autumn months. Callicarpa Shrub For Autumn Colour In Your Garden

Callicarpa

This deciduous shrub is perfect for the autumn months with the purple berries bringing texture and colour into garden borders.

Cornus Sanguinea

Cornus Sanguinea is a striking plant to have in the garden in the autumn. The leaves begin to turn an orange-red shade and black berries will appear. Following this, the plant looses its leaves and the stems turn to vibrant red.

Rudbekia

Rudbeckia brings vibrant colour to the garden from August to the end of the autumn season. The most common colour is yellow but there are other beautiful variations too.

Pansy

Pansies are a great annual for the autumn season and can provide colour to hanging baskets, borders and pots. They tend to flower from August and all through the autumn/ winter months.

Heuchera

Heuchera is a beautiful clump-forming perennial. They bring rich colour to planting beds in the autumn when other plants have died down.

Pyracantha

Pyracantha has stunning berries in the autumn. The most common variety carries red berries but our favourite is the ‘Soleil d’Or’ which has striking yellow/ orange berries.

Crocus Sativus

This variety of crocus is known as the autumn crocus. It flowers throughout October and November bringing beautiful colour plant beds and pots.
