Art Deco Inspired Design Scheme
The Art Deco style has always inspired us with its uses of golds, blacks and bold shapes. We have created a dining room design scheme that was influenced by the style of Art Deco but it has a modern twist. Instead of using typical black, we have embraced a blue and pink colour scheme to create a bold but still sophisticated design.
For this dining room, we have used lots of golds and taken inspiration from the geometric shapes of the Art Deco period. To add more interest into the space and to create a focal point, we have added paneling to the back wall that has a large piece of artwork in the centre. As we wanted to keep the design simple, we have used a bold blue paint colour on all the walls and the paneling. Having this on all four walls gives the space a cosy feel and inviting feel.
In typical Art Deco style, we have added in a bar cart to one side that has geometric detailing. The gold feature pendant light adds drama to the room and with the multiple lights lots of interesting shadows will be cast over the room at night. To balance out the colour within the room, we have used a pink velvet fabric on the dining chairs as well as on the window dressings. The pink also creates a break in the blue and allows the eye to be swept across the room from the dining table to the windows. The other materials we have used within the dining room is marble, velvet and mango wood.
